What If... the Doctor remained Time Lord Victorious? (Part 11)

Last time, we left a gaggle of Doctors (and one reformed Master) and companions trapped in three conjoined TARDISes, a (more) sinister version of the Seventh Doctor and Missy attempting to break the safeguards put on the Key to Reality by Susan's Doctor (resembling the First Doctor of the main timeline), The Doctor from the Empire of the Wolf universe learned what had happened to the Adam Mitchell from the War Master's universe, and - to top it all off - the Black Guardian and the Chronarch went to war against each other for all the marbles.

Bad news, right? Let's continue the story!

What If... the Doctor remained Time Lord Victorious? (Part 10)

Last time, the Doctors working under the White Guardian had managed to acquire the five pieces of the Key to Reality. Captain Jack Harkness from the Wolfverse has the sixth, and has teleported away to parts unknown. The Chaos Doctor and Missy were imprisoned by the Doctors and the Chronarch found himself at the mercy of the Great Intelligence. Things are spinning out, and we seem to be heading toward the final battle for the fate of reality itself!

What's gonna happen next?!

What If... the Doctor remained Time Lord Victorious? (Part 9)

Happy Birthday to me!

Hey, everybody! Been a while, hasn't it? Last time... look, a bunch of things happened and it turned into a massive cluster. Honestly, if it didn't, this wouldn't be a Doctor Who story, but let me try to sum up as best I can.

What If... the Doctor remained Time Lord Victorious? (Part 8)

Last time, the Chaos Doctor (resembling the Seventh) kidnapped the Guardian Doctor (resembling the Fourth Doctor) and stole from him the fourth fragment of the Key to Reality. Elsewhere Jenny, her Doctor, and Ross Jenkins were in another version of the Land of Fiction and aided another of the Doctor's multiversal counterparts in finally defeating that place and escaping its terrible trap. Likewise elsewhere, the Jack Harkness from the Wolfverse and his complimenting Doctor have their reunion at last and manage to evade the Chronarch... but for how long?

And what will become of them next? Let's take a peek!

What If. . .the Doctor remained Time Lord Victorious? (Part 7)

Last time, the Doctors aplenty were splint up across the multiverse to recover the Key of Reality, a powerful artifact not unlike that of the Key to Time, though on a significantly higher scale.

What If. . .the Doctor remained Time Lord Victorious? (Part 6)

Last time, the Doctors and the Master were pulled away from a Gallifrey in distress by none other than the White Guardian, who tasked them not with seeking out the Key to Time, but instead to seek out an even more powerful artifact - the Key to Reality - to stop the Chronarch and his insane plan to consume and control all of Time itself in every universe. Will they succeed? Let's find out.

Oh, for everyone keeping score, we currently have...
For those not aligned with the main group, we have:
  • The Chronarch, a version of the Doctor who appears to have become the Time Lord Victorious. (resembling the Tenth Doctor)
  • The Chaos Doctor, a version of the Doctor from a universe where Rassilon was largely benign as we saw back in Part 4. (resembling the Seventh Doctor)

Got all that? Good.

What If. . .the Doctor remained Time Lord Victorious? (Part 5)

Last time, several of the Doctors had been cornered on a Gallifrey in a universe where not only was the Doctor an evil chessmaster psychopath, not only were the Daleks facing off against a far more benevolent Rassilon, but the Chronarch had arrived to bring an end to the War once and for all. . .by destroying the Time Lords. Gallifrey was being swarmed and all was definitely not well. More to the point, there seemed to be some trouble onboard the Chronarch's ship as Jack is captured, the Wolf is killed, and Dalek Caan has ended up in the custody of the Chronarch.

Bad news bears, right? Let's see what happens next!

What If...the Doctor remained Time Lord Victorious? (Part 4)

Last time, the Wolf and Jenny's Doctor and Jenny had found themselves orbiting Gallifrey on what appeared to be the final day of the Time War. Elsewhere, there was a conga line of who was following who and for what reason. As you can tell from the picture above, we're looking at one first rather than the other.

What If...The Doctor had remained Time Lord Victorious? (Part 2)

Last time, we were introduced to not one but two version of the Doctor - each one very different from one another and one of them met an unfortunate end after discovering a terrible, terrible secret. Now, the Chronarch is poised to head to another universe to, presumably, consume the Doctor of that universe as well.

Meanwhile...

What If...the Empire of the Wolf Began in Tooth and Claw? (Finale)

What a journey it's been, huh?

We've seen Jack Harkness, Time Agent and pansexual badass, contend for five parts of utter mayhem in a timeline where time itself is unraveling around him. I've collected all the story fragments here for any future reading pleasure. I was going to do an entire recap of the previous five parts of the episode, but I think if you're in this by now then you have a good grasp of what has been going on. If not...well, you have the link.

Last time, however...

Rassilon and the rest of the Time Lords had arrived on Earth through the Time Lock. As the universe is falling apart not only there, but everywhere, he has managed to take down the Master and remove from him the infection of the Wolf (seemingly destroying it in the process). The clone of Rose Tyler kept by the Master/Wolf has started gaining flashes of memory after fighting the Daleks, a memory of a life she never led. So how will the Doctor and Jack get out of this one? Let's check it out!

What If...the Empire of the Wolf Began in Tooth and Claw? (Part 5)

Last time, Jack and the Doctor had been betrayed by the Weeping Angels in their attempt to repair the collapsing reality. Rose was revealed to be a clone created by none other than the Master, who had become the Emperor of the Wolf. On Earth, werewolves and Cybermen began the ultimate battle as time was torn apart and put back together around them and both the Doctor's and the Master's TARDISes were materialized into one another.

With reality ripping apart at the seams once again, how will the Doctor and Jack get out of this one?!

Oh, also, the Daleks were about to show up. I did tease that.

What If...the Empire of the Wolf began in Tooth and Claw? (Part 4)

Last time, Jack Harkness and the Doctor managed to escape the insidious force of Torchwood, but not without some damage to the TARDIS in the process. With an emergency landing, they found themselves in a field...somewhere...in 2006 and with a mysterious statue standing nearby. Meanwhile, we saw the reveal of the true leader of the Torchwood task force and the servant of the Wolf Emperor - Rose Tyler. Time is starting to unravel. Will the Doctor and Jack be able to save the day?

What if...the Empire of the Wolf began in Tooth and Claw? (Part 3)

Last time, Captain Jack Harkness found himself on the run from the werewolf legions of the Torchwood Institute. As he makes his way to the Torchwood House, Jack experiences the strange appearances and disappearances of various creatures. Time is beginning to unravel as he makes his way into the house to find...the TARDIS, and a very familiar individual within it, the Doctor.

Just not the Doctor he was expecting to find.

What If...the Empire of the Wolf began in Tooth and Claw? (Part 2)

Last time...
Captain Jack Harkness woke up in a Torchwood he did not remember, in a timeline he did not remember, to find everything a little bit more werewolf-ish. After some investigation, Jack found himself on the run from Yvonne Hartman and the mysterious Emperor, alongside his old friends Gwen and Ianto. Jack had just managed to discover the location of the TARDIS when Ianto revealed himself to be a traitor, shooting Gwen and demanding Jack's surrender.

Needless to say, things weren't going very well for the poor fella.

What If...the Empire of the Wolf began in Tooth and Claw? (Part 1)

Hey everybody! It's MadCap with another What If? born out of my insane mind! This time, I want to go all the way back to Tooth and Claw in Series 2. For those of you who don't want to click that link and help contribute to the all of three bucks of ad revenue I've garnered in almost a decade running this blog, here's a quick recap of the episode: A bunch of monks who do kung fu once and then never again help a werewolf in its quest to bite Queen Victoria. The Doctor stops them using the moon and a diamond.

...it's Doctor Who, context only makes it worse.
