Last time, we left a gaggle of Doctors (and one reformed Master) and companions trapped in three conjoined TARDISes, a (more) sinister version of the Seventh Doctor and Missy attempting to break the safeguards put on the Key to Reality by Susan's Doctor (resembling the First Doctor of the main timeline), The Doctor from the Empire of the Wolf universe learned what had happened to the Adam Mitchell from the War Master's universe, and - to top it all off - the Black Guardian and the Chronarch went to war against each other for all the marbles.

Last time, the Doctors working under the White Guardian had managed to acquire the five pieces of the Key to Reality. Captain Jack Harkness from the Wolfverse has the sixth, and has teleported away to parts unknown. The Chaos Doctor and Missy were imprisoned by the Doctors and the Chronarch found himself at the mercy of the Great Intelligence. Things are spinning out, and we seem to be heading toward the final battle for the fate of reality itself!

Hey, everybody! Been a while, hasn't it? Last time... look, a bunch of things happened and it turned into a massive cluster. Honestly, if it didn't, this wouldn't be a Doctor Who story, but let me try to sum up as best I can.

What If... the Doctor remained Time Lord Victorious? (Part 8)

Last time, the Chaos Doctor (resembling the Seventh) kidnapped the Guardian Doctor (resembling the Fourth Doctor) and stole from him the fourth fragment of the Key to Reality. Elsewhere Jenny, her Doctor, and Ross Jenkins were in another version of the Land of Fiction and aided another of the Doctor's multiversal counterparts in finally defeating that place and escaping its terrible trap. Likewise elsewhere, the Jack Harkness from the Wolfverse and his complimenting Doctor have their reunion at last and manage to evade the Chronarch... but for how long?

Last time, the Doctors aplenty were splint up across the multiverse to recover the Key of Reality, a powerful artifact not unlike that of the Key to Time, though on a significantly higher scale. 

What If. . .the Doctor remained Time Lord Victorious? (Part 6)

Last time, the Doctors and the Master were pulled away from a Gallifrey in distress by none other than the White Guardian, who tasked them not with seeking out the Key to Time, but instead to seek out an even more powerful artifact - the Key to Reality - to stop the Chronarch and his insane plan to consume and control all of Time itself in every universe. Will they succeed? Let's find out.

Last time, several of the Doctors had been cornered on a Gallifrey in a universe where not only was the Doctor an evil chessmaster psychopath, not only were the Daleks facing off against a far more benevolent Rassilon, but the Chronarch had arrived to bring an end to the War once and for all. . .by destroying the Time Lords. Gallifrey was being swarmed and all was definitely not well. More to the point, there seemed to be some trouble onboard the Chronarch's ship as Jack is captured, the Wolf is killed, and Dalek Caan has ended up in the custody of the Chronarch.

Bad news bears, right? Let's see what happens next!

What If...the Doctor remained Time Lord Victorious? (Part 3)

Last time, we had a bit of a cluster as a few different Doctors and even a Master teamed up against an evil that was extending its power throughout the multiverse, hunting down different incarnations of the Doctor and stealing their regenerations for himself. However, his plans were further reaching than even that, extending out into the multiverse with the intent to conquer every universe and become the King of Time itself.

Will the Chronarch succeed? Or will the Doctors (and Master) be able to save the day and all of reality itself? Let's find out!

Last time, we were introduced to not one but two version of the Doctor - each one very different from one another and one of them met an unfortunate end after discovering a terrible, terrible secret. Now, the Chronarch is poised to head to another universe to, presumably, consume the Doctor of that universe as well.

Wow. Can't believe we took two years to get to it. Just over it, actually. The final piece of the puzzle in answering the question - What if the Doctor had never met Rose Tyler? As we have seen, history has taken a different path through Series 1-4 in this universe, all because the Doctor took a different path instead of the one he did in the basement on Henrik's. From changing the big bad of Series 1 to one that actually made sense to no less than three different versions of Martha running around to the Master being...well, as they would be later in the timeline.

Last time, the Doctor, "Estra", and Donna went off into time and space once more without a Doctor's Daughter to be found. Will Series 4 continue to have a bunch of curveballs thrown at us? Let's take a peek!

Wow, it's been almost a year since we were here last! Last time we left off the Doctor had taken the newly-regenerated Master and placed mental blocks upon her. Yes, the Master had indeed regenerated into Missy...or, rather, "Estra" as she was now christened. With Jack and Adeola rebuilding Torchwood on Earth, the Doctor could head off into time and space knowing that things were in safe hands...at least for a little while.

So, let's pick up with them and see where the new version of events will take them!

It seems that Mr. Saxon knows the Doctor quite intimately...

What If...The Doctor had never met Rose Tyler? (Series 2, Part 1)

Here we are again! Spinning off from a downer of an ending for Series One, we now enter into Series Two with the same Doctor in the TARDIS. A Doctor who (hehe) is down not one, but two companions. What would be different about Series Two in a world where the Doctor had never met Rose Tyler?

Well, as we saw from the last two entries in this What If?, quite a lot.

Time once again to delve into one of my favorite storytelling engines - the What If? story. Last time, we spoke about what would happen if the Doctor had never encountered Rose Tyler while investigating the Nestene Consciousness in London in 2005. For the most part, events played out in a very similar way to the broadcast stories. While some, like The End of the World happened without the Doctor's intervention and thus were far worse off, we got what (at the risk of being egotistical) I think is a far better version of the events of Aliens of London and World War Three, with Mickey and his girlfriend Shareen taking up the Doctor's offer to travel in the TARDIS.

What exciting adventures will await them?

...the rest of Series 1, obviously. Though not quite as expected.

What If...The Doctor had never met Rose Tyler? (Series 1, Part 1)

Hello everybody!

I thought I'd try something new and see what people thought of it. Now, I'm sure you've all been very diligently reading my Doctor Who reviews and know that, by the time of this writing, we are well into Series 2 as far as reviews go. I'm honestly shocked I made it all the way through Series 1, considering all of the really terrible moments in it. However, one of the aspects that I absolutely loved in it was Christopher Eccelston as the Doctor. He was my first Doctor and the only thing I really dislike about him is that he didn't get enough time to really materialize it fully onscreen. If he'd had more time, I think he would have been - if you'll pardon the quip - fantastic.

So, I had a thought about what might have happened if a single important moment had not happened in the Doctor's life - meeting Rose Tyler. Now, my hatred of Rose Tyler is well documented by this point. As of my review of The Girl in the Fireplace we're up to 5,055,636,223 on my Rose Tyler is Awful Count gag. However, this isn't going to be a What If to continue my sane and rational disparaging of a fictional character. Despite my many, many issues with the character, Rose Tyler did change the Ninth Doctor for the better...and then proceeded to make the Tenth insufferable at points.

However I got to thinking...what if that change had never happened? What if, in trying to combat the Nestene Consciousness in London in the year 2005, the Doctor had never met Rose Tyler in the basement of that shop and did not eventually take her off into time and space?
