Last time, we left a gaggle of Doctors (and one reformed Master) and companions trapped in three conjoined TARDISes, a (more) sinister version of the Seventh Doctor and Missy attempting to break the safeguards put on the Key to Reality by Susan's Doctor (resembling the First Doctor of the main timeline), The Doctor from the Empire of the Wolf universe learned what had happened to the Adam Mitchell from the War Master's universe, and - to top it all off - the Black Guardian and the Chronarch went to war against each other for all the marbles.
Bad news, right? Let's continue the story!
Well, as I said - we left Wolf and Adelaide running through the Matrix after a completely mentally broken and psychotic Adam Mitchell. As part of the Chronarch's Conduit, his mind has complete access to the Matrix as well as control over it. So, naturally, they're having difficulty getting away from him. While Wolf remembers a few occassions when he fought the Matrix, Adelaide doesn't have the experience even if she has the mental fortitude and Adam's projections soon enough start overwhelming her.
The Great Intelligence, through the Whisper Men, appears and consumes Adam before he can destroy Adelaide. Naturally, Wolf doesn't remotely trust the Intelligence, but is eventually convinced that the Chronarch represents a greater threat even to the Intelligence. While things are clearly tense, the feud between the Doctor(s) and the Intelligence is to be put on hold... for now.
Back in the conjoined TARDISes, Missy and Chaos are working hard to break the lock on the Key to Reality set up by Susan's Doctor. Just as it seems they are about to succeed, Captain Jack from the Wolfverse busts in from within the bowels of the TARDIS, wielding the fabric cannon from some universe's version of Bad Wolf which he uses to put a massive dent in the console and break the concentration of the two Time Lords. Chaos attempt to psych Jack out through the mental manipulations that Seven is so known for in the main universe, but Jack responds by sending a blast right through the little man's chest. He then puts Missy at gunpoint and demands that she transmat the Doctors and companions back to the console room.
Missy, knowing Jack from her own universe, attempts to work her manipulations... and gets a blast through the chest for herself as well. Shockingly, Jack manages to work through the damaged console and finds a transmat control, pulling everyone back just as they are about to be taken out by the Black Guardian's monsters... and not a moment too soon, as it seems the fighting outside in space is getting worse.
The legions of the Black Guardian and the Chronarch are going head to head, and the fighting is intensifying. The conflict is growing more and more as both sides have started to tear open the walls that separate the different parallel universes and bring in more and more reinforcements. The Doctors and the Doctorless Master begin to reset the TARDISes' defense systems, transmatting out all the creatures into the chaos as Susan's Doctor begins to unlock the lock on the Key. It is then that the group takes notice of Chaos and Missy regenerating.
Now, Chaos resembles the Eighth Doctor (as played by Paul McGann) and Missy has become the Spy Master of the later prime timeline. The Spy Master in particular attempts to reach out to his counterpart from another universe, the Doctorless Master indeed being tempted by the life he had once had... and could have again...
However, both Chaos and the Spy Master are subdued by Jenny and Jack before they can think on this further, once more imprisoned.
Within the Matrix, Wolf begins to pump out as much negative wave psychic energy as he can manage, bolstered by the powers of the Great Intelligence. In the real world, the Conduit's manifestation starts going berserk, taking out most of the Chronarch's guard. The would-be King of Time attempts to severe the link to the Matrix, but finds himself unable to do so... the Intelligence has already begun to take hold. Still in the Matrix, with a goodbye to Adelaide, Wolf leaves and promises that he'll take care of his universe's version of her should they ever meet. Breaking out, Wolf is witness to the Chronarch escaping to a solitary TARDIS as the combined forces of the Black Guardian and the Great Intelligence swallow up the Chronarch's armies. Even his gigantic battle TARDIS is starting to fall apart under the strain of it all, a cacophonous racket of Cloister Bells going off in the ones he's stitched together. As one manages to fall free, Wolf escapes into it and - luckily - finds it still working. Locking onto the most recent use of the transmat, he brings his TARDIS right into the console room of the conjoined one.
Now, Team White Guardian has been reunited in full and Susan's Doctor pops open the final lock on the Key... only for the TARDISes' defense systems to suddenly fail. The TARDIS that Wolf arrived in suddenly explodes, sending the entire group flying. Out of the smoke and ash emerges... the TARDIS that the Chronarch escaped in. The doors open, and out comes the man himself with a gaggle of his troops behind him, separating the group from him. Dressed in the high-collared Gallifreyan robes of the Prydonian chapter, he moves through the battle that erupts as though it's nothing. When Jack attempts to shoot him, the Time Lord raises a hand and causes Jack's gun to explode, temporarily killing him. When Jenny attempts to use the Gauntlet of Rassilon on him, the Chronarch renders it powerless... by melting it to Jenny's hand and forearm.
He approaches the Key to Reality, picking it up.
"I am the God of Time. I will soon be the God of All Reality... I am not just the survivor... I'm the winner. Time. Lord. Victorious!"
The Chronarch lifts the Key in triumph as everyone looks on fearfully...
... and that's where we're going to leave off! Will the Doctors and their allies be able to stop the Chronarch? Or will the multiverse fall into darkness and chaos as it is torn apart and put back together by the will of the greatest threat it has ever known?
