What If...the Doctor remained Time Lord Victorious? (Part 4)

Last time, the Wolf and Jenny's Doctor and Jenny had found themselves orbiting Gallifrey on what appeared to be the final day of the Time War. Elsewhere, there was a conga line of who was following who and for what reason. As you can tell from the picture above, we're looking at one first rather than the other.

The pilots of the conjoined TARDISes stare at the scanner, seeing a much more haggard and beaten down Rassilon than either of them remember from their respective timelines. Particularly Jenny's Doctor, who remembers him as an omnicidal maniac who was trying to end time itself. This Rassilon, however, is not that and appears to genuinely be asking for help. He orders a transmat corridor opened for the TARDISes of the Wolf and Jenny's Doctors, allowing them to land through all the chaos.

They land on Gallifrey and discover that Rassilon is indeed as he claims to be - a man on the edge. Rassilon listens to the Doctors and Jenny tell the story of the being known as the Chronarch and he believes them after they establish proof. Knowing this threat is even greater than that which the Daleks propose, he regrets that he cannot help them fight as all the weapons from the Omega Arsenal have been used save for one - the Moment.

The Moment which, at that moment, is being stolen. Both the Doctor's recall doing this, however, the one who broadcasts the message out to the Time Lords and the Daleks is not the one that they recall doing so from their respective timelines, but a different incarnation entirely.

The incarnation that the pair know to be the seventh in their universe is the one to fight in the Time War in this reality. The Doctor of this reality is apparently not a soldier for the Time Lords or the Daleks, but instead appears to be an agent of Chaos itself and has been using his superior mind to outmaneuver both sides to twist the War to his ends.

With the Moment, Rassilon fears, the Doctor - who we will call "Chaos Doctor" - will be able to not only end the War, but also rip the foundations of this reality asunder. Wolf Doctor, Jenny's Doctor, and Jenny agree to assist Rassilon in stopping him, the former two knowing just where it is Chaos Doctor will go: a little shack in the Badlands of Gallifrey.

Elsewhere, the Wolf has infiltrated the Chronarch's ship. Placing a Dalek virus into the computer system, it begins to stalk Captain Jack through the ship before attacking what it assumes to be him...however, it ends up being another Sontaran. Jack blasts it with his squareness gun, seemingly killing both of them off and unfortunately alerting the Chronarch that something is up. Jack gets surrounded and brought before the Chronarch. At first thinking to kill him, the Chronarch changes his mind when he finds that the man's universal frequency matches that of the Doctor who he is pursuing. This settled, he decides that Jack will be the perfect bait for a trap. He asks Adam if he agrees and Jack sees Adam (though we do not) and...is clearly disgusted and horrified by what he sees upon Adam's response.

Just as this happens, the Dalek virus takes control and Caan announces his supremacy over the Doctor - the Chronarch can call himself whatever he wishes, he is still the Doctor - and his control over the Doctor's TARDIS. The Chronarch turns the tables on Caan, drawing the Dalek ship into his warship. When he opens up the full extent of the ship to Caan, the Dalek begins screaming in pain. When the screaming finally stops, the Chronarch orders Jack taken away to the cells and orders what is left of Caan to be brought up to him. He has plans for the Dalek...

Back on the Gallifrey under siege, the Chaos Doctor is preparing to activate the Moment with the intention of destroying Gallifrey, the Daleks, and the Time Lords in one fell swoop. The Wolf and Jenny's Doctors arrive and a confrontation begins. A confrontation that ends as quickly as it begins, because Jenny comes up behind the Chaos Doctor and takes him out with a karate chop to the back of the neck. They place the Chaos Doctor into temporal status and return him to the Capitol and to a grateful Rassilon, bringing the Moment back with them as well.

Rassilon returns the Moment to the Omega Arsenal and is about to render what aid he can to the Doctors when reports start coming in that the Dalek fleet has abandoned its attack on Gallifrey and withdrawn to a point out of range of Gallifrey's planetary defense grid. The Doctors are shocked, as are Jenny, Rassilon, and the High Council. While Jenny suggests this might be a good thing, the Daleks giving up, the other parties inform her that Daleks never do give up.

And, indeed, the Daleks haven't given up - they're simply under new management. A new signal comes in...a war TARDIS of grand size has emerged and the Dalek fleet is flocking to it. The Chronarch hacks into Gallifrey's communication and announces that the end of the Time War has come, and that he will be taking what is due to him as the King of Time. The Dalek fleet presses its attack once more, this time joined by Sontaran, Ogron, and other races' ships in an all out assault...seemingly ready to burn Gallifrey to ashes...

. . .and that's where we're leaving off with Part 4! See? I told you the heat would be on! Looks like everyone but the Roseless Doctor and the Master are in quite the pickle at the moment, aren't they? The Doctors and Jenny are stuck on Gallifrey, Jack's in the hands of the Chronarch and Gallifrey is about to get annihilated in this universe. How are they gonna get out of this one?!

Find out in Part 5...which shouldn't really surprise you all that much. Seems to be the trend we're following on here.
