MadCap's Fiction Corner - Seattle By Night: "If It Wasn't For Bad Luck..." (Part 5)

While her fellow coterie members had suffered in their own ways, Grace Penderghast found herself suffering in a very different way the next night... the incessant chatter of a Toreador party. In truth, it was one particular thing about her Clan that she didn't care much for, much preferring the solidarity of her art. However, such evils were indeed necessary and particularly so when dealing with an influence such as Renée. Renée Schnider was the belle of the ball wherever she went, a Toreador among Toreador as many said.

What If... the Doctor remained Time Lord Victorious? (Part 8)

Last time, the Chaos Doctor (resembling the Seventh) kidnapped the Guardian Doctor (resembling the Fourth Doctor) and stole from him the fourth fragment of the Key to Reality. Elsewhere Jenny, her Doctor, and Ross Jenkins were in another version of the Land of Fiction and aided another of the Doctor's multiversal counterparts in finally defeating that place and escaping its terrible trap. Likewise elsewhere, the Jack Harkness from the Wolfverse and his complimenting Doctor have their reunion at last and manage to evade the Chronarch... but for how long?

And what will become of them next? Let's take a peek!

MadCap's Reel Thoughts - "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" (1986)

Alright, so, here's another review that's mostly going to be me gushing. Why? Because, besides The Wrath Of Khan, this is my favorite Star Trek movie bar none.

So yeah, you're gonna sit here and see me mostly fanboy over it. Sorry.

MadCap's Fiction Corner - "The Champions of Zobek" (Chapter 8)

The longer that Calen watched, and he did watch for quite a bit of time (and how couldn't he?), the more he was convinced that this man was indeed Jedi Master Karras Toph, the man who had been imprinted upon the holocron that he and Niyasa had discovered on Gesaril. He was certainly older, much older than the artificial intelligence that had been created from him, but it was definitely him. Even if Zobek hadn't made his grand announcement, Calen would have seen it.

MadCap's Reel Thoughts - "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock" (1984)

Yesterday was an important day in the Christian mythology. While I myself am not a particularly religious person, I feel that it is important at least attempt to observe widespread holidays if only in order to make keywords in my videos that will hopefully ping people's Google searches and get me ad revenue.

. . .y'all know what I'm about. We had this discussion last week.

MadCap's Fiction Corner - Seattle By Night: "If It Wasn't For Bad Luck..." (Part 4)

"So... who is this you have been brought before me, Mr. Grayson?"

"My name is Angelica Knox, Prince Blanchard, and with respect, I can speak for myself." The redhead who stood beside Ben spoke up. This was her Presentation, as Ben had called it. She couldn't sweat anymore, but if she could... well, she would be right now. She did her best to put on a brave face. She saw Ben in her peripheral vision, standing almost like a statue. He was letting her take point on this, and she wasn't sure if that was comforting or not.

What If...Sam Winchester killed John Winchester? (Part 3)

Last time, we saw Sam and Dean still at odds after the death of John (and Azazel) at Sam's hands. Even as they hunted separately, they found themselves (and Jo Harvelle) being pulled closer and closer toward what the Yellow Eyed Demon's plans were...

Also, Gordon got 86'd by Dean. So that happened.

MadCap's Reel Thoughts - "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" (1982)

Okay, so... didn't expect to be getting to this so soon, but here we are. And on the year of the fortieth anniversary of it, no less!

I am approaching this review with equal parts eagerness and trepidation. I technically have covered this before, but that was essentially a "review" of me complaining about/comparing this film with Star Trek Into Darkness. It's almost impossible to adequately describe the love I and many other Trek fans have for this movie and, at the risk of gushing like a fanboy, it is a love that is entirely earned.

And it is here, on this glorious April 4th - a mere forty-one years before the day before First Contact with the Vulcans (unless you're somehow reading this then, in which case - HI VULCANS! Thank you for saving us from our own stupidity!) - I bring to you... the myth, the legend, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

MadCap's Fiction Corner - "Fallout: Manifest Destiny" (Chapter 5)

The two wings of Vertibirds landed at Jamaica Plain. The place had improved quite a bit since the last time that Andrew had seen it, the supply lines having remained strong in spite of assaults by the Brotherhood, the few remnants of the Institute (by the look of it, some stragglers still out when the place itself exploded), and other of the delicious variety of beasts to be found in the Wasteland. Things were starting to improve, though. The attacks were of a lesser variety and peace was a far more prevalent thing.

War never changed, but neither did the determination of man to survive.
