Last time we left the Doctor, he was in his tenth incarnation and he'd just been left by his fifth incarnation just before he saw the bow of the Titanic slam through the TARDIS doors. Got all that? Good. That's real good.
Now, forget it, because that has nothing at all to do with what we're going over today.

MadCap's Reel Thoughts - "Yor, the Hunter from the Future" (1983)
Yeah, I know that Spoony already covered this, but that was also more than a decade ago and I don't think he'll try and crucify me for it, even if his fans probably will (myself included).
Miss you, Spoony. Maybe some day you'll come back.

What If...the Master was the Last of the Time Lords? (Part 2)
Last time, we saw the Master as the sole survivor of the Time Lord race following the destruction of that race, the Daleks, and Gallifrey. Gone, blown up, kaput with the use of the Moment.
The Time War is over, and the Master is the victor.
Without his people or his old nemesis the Doctor to stop him, the Master seemed poised to take the whole of space and time by storm and shape it to his iron will...except that he didn't. Crushed by all he had seen, all he had done, he was unable to cope. All of that struggle, all of those years of the Doctor telling him he would come to a bad end, and he finally had.
He had nothing now...with only a lone TARDIS and as long as his new regeneration cycle would hold out to wander the universe.

From MadCap's Couch - "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (7 Worst Episodes)
So I covered my favorite episodes of Deep Space Nine last week, and it seemed only fitting that I would deliver unto you what I believe to be the 7 worst episodes of the show - one from each season.
I'm sure this definitely won't be a contentious issue at all!
So, without further adieu...

What If...the Master was the Last of the Time Lords? (Part 1)
Given that I've finally managed to review Utopia/The Sound of Drums/The Last of the Time Lords without snapping like a Twix Bar (somehow), I figured it was time to bust out a What If that's been knocking around in my head ever since I started this series of What Ifs...what if the Master had survived the Time War instead of the Doctor?
Now, I know that sounds a bit crazy and that we technically do have this scenario as presented in the three-parter I just managed to get through, but let's change things up a bit. I guess a better title would be "What If...the Master was the Last of the Time Lords?".
...nailed it!

From MadCap's Couch - "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (7 Favorite Episodes*)
So, I've mentioned it a few times before both here on the blog and on Twitter, but Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is my favorite Star Trek series. While I do have a massive appreciation for the Original Series and - of course - The Next Generation, DS9 took Star Trek in a new direction that developed not only Starfleet and the Federation, but also other alien races who had previously only really been in the background or had been black and white antagonists such as the Cardassians and the Ferengi. That doesn't mean I enjoy every single episode of it (I'm looking at you "He Who Is Without Sin"), but I do enjoy the emphasis on world building, the ways in which the main crew was developed in believable and enjoyable ways, and the epic scale of everything by the end.
Needless to say, after finishing another marathon, I decided to write out this list.
This isn't going to be an exhaustive or comprehensive overview of the entire series, as much as I would absolutely love to milk all those sweet, sweet views that I'm not getting. More to the point, there are other people who have already covered Trek far better and more in-depth than I ever could (I personally recommend SFDebris: All glory to Psycho Janeway!). This list will be nothing more than my seven favorite episodes from the seven seasons of Deep Space Nine - one episode for each of the seven seasons the show ran.
...likely with a few honorable mentions before we get to number one.
That being said, spoilers for various parts of the show will be given depending on where we are in the Series' overall arc. So, if you haven't watched the show yet and are interested, this is your final warning. Beneath the cut, anything goes.

MadCap's Reel Thoughts - "The Return of the King" (1980)
Alright, so this film isn't so much a sequel to this film as it is a sequel to this film, but the marketing wizards at Warner Brothers definitely wanted everyone to think that they were in the home video and DVD release. It also probably doesn't hurt that The Return of the King picks up pretty much right where Ralph Bakshi's entry ends - namely in that nebulous area between The Two Towers and the plot of The Return of the King's start.
Yes, believe it or not, the book of The Two Towers ends on a cliffhanger with Frodo seemingly dead by Shelob and Sam at the gates of Mordor at Cirth Ungol. Never mind that, though, Peter Jackson thought it'd be better to end on an "optimistic" note, I suppose.
We'll be getting to his entries later on.
For now, though, let's take a look at how Rankin/Bass handled The Return of the King.

From MadCap's Couch - "Doctor Who: Time Crash"
The last hurrah for Series 3. The end of the line. Doctor Who has done several of these mini episodes since the New Series began in 2005. Several of them were done for Series 2, one to set up each episode, in fact. However, I didn't cover those mostly because they weren't full length adventures and really only served as mini-trailers for those episodes. Time Crash, on the other hand, is a little bit different in that it is, itself, an episode...albeit about thirty-two minutes shorter than the standard length.

MadCap's Game Reviews - "Super Mario Sunshine"
Well, 201st review and here we are in the heat of summer. Unfortunately, since July the 4th falls on a Saturday (that is, tomorrow) and I cannot use today's review to pay tribute to that greatest of all fiction presidents we've ever had - Bill Pullman - I will instead pay tribute to our local workers in the noble trade of sanitation.
...yeah, summer, sanitation, clever segue, Super Mario Sunshine. Here we are.
