MadCap's Mod Mondays - "Moon and Star"

I think it's time to let everyone know what a big fan I am of Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

...yes, I'll give you a moment to recover from that shocking revelation. After all, I've been incredibly subtle about it.
But it seems I'm not the only one. Nexus user GanXingba (the same one from TeamFourStar) has created the one and - to date - only mod he's produced, "Moon and Star". It begins inconspicuously enough, with a courier showing up to the Dragonborn with a message requesting them at the Sleeping Giant Inn. Upon arriving, the Dragonborn will find a fully-voiced Dunmer asking their help in capturing an escaped prisoner from Morrowind. Upon agreeing, they will be directed to the village of Little Vivec - a small Dunmer-heavy village on Lake Ilinalta. From there, the player must follow the trail of the fugitive.

But is all as it seems? This figure gets a very different reaction from the people of Little Vivec. Some fear him, some revere him. He's shrouded in mystery, but known to be an insanely powerful warrior for great justice.

Spoiler alert: It's the Nerevarine. I'm sure the title made you sure it would be Cyrus.

My snark aside, this mod is absolutely great. The quest is great one that digs into what the Nerevarine has been doing since the events of Morrowind and even builds some character onto what we already had. The best part is, it feels like a natural progression and comes from an angle that I wouldn't have thought of before, so kudos there.

The village of Little Vivec is a lovely little place, filled with fully-voiced NPCs from the oldest of the Dunmer to a young Nord refugee (who is the cutest little Fallout reference ever). There are secrets to be found and even after the main quest, there are still things to be found not just in Little Vivec but also the dwarven ruin that the player will eventually trace the Nerevarine to has some extra things to find for the careful eye.

Complete with some interestingly designed puzzles, too, this mod will net you a cool few more hours of gameplay and, best of all, actually has consequences for how you complete the quest. I don't wish to spoil anything, but just keep in mind that the Nerevarine is the champion of Azura. Especially if you've done the Black Star as well, you might well not like what happens with another infraction.

But, this mod definitely gets a recommendation. It builds on what came before and makes a fantastic addition to Skyrim. The only downside is that, while the Nerevarine does go to the Shrine of Azura at the end should you complete the quest in his favor, he stays there forever and can't be recruited as a companion. Other than that, I have no complaints. Awesome job, GanXingba!

Then again, with the Nerevarine and the Dragonborn fighting back to back, Skyrim would be far, far too easy to tame.
