BEHOLD! THE ENVOY OF THE GAYS...well... |
Okay, so, apparently, there’s a woman by the name Adora Bull (I really hope that is a pen name). Currently, she’s in protective custody following a rather inflammatory article she posted entitled “Top Five Reasons I’m Glad Paul Walker is Dead” on a site by the name of Modern Woman Digest. However, with all respect to Mr. Walker and his friends and family in their time of loss (and my deepest sympathies go out to you all), I wish to place focus instead upon an article she wrote that involves an area of my own expertise (if one could call my insights “expertise”): namely gaming…
and the insidious agenda of the homosexuals behind it!
Now obviously, considering the article that has apparently gotten people so outraged at her that she was actually taken into police custody, Ms. Bull is no stranger to - in her own words - “being “un-politically correct.””, and much like her article on the death of Paul Walker, “How Video Games Are Turning Your Children Into Homosexuals” is filled with derogatory statements, “facts” that can be easily disproven with a Google search, and I’m just going to say it outright and not be afraid of being “un-politically correct” - trolling.
This is a troll. Someone who is paid to troll people.
But don’t take my word for it. Let’s just take a look at the article itself. For your convenience, I will be Italicizing the words of Ms. Bull, and then giving you my reactions to the areas where this has failed miserably as journalism.
Which is ALL of them...
“Alright moms, listen up.”
Oh, goodie, let me get my coat, then…
“There’s a pandemic going around right now, that no one seems to want to touch with a ten foot pole, in fear of being “un-politically correct.””
Children dying of starvation right here in America? Big businesses being allowed to run rampant, keeping decent wages and affordable products from the general public? Snooki?
“But I’m here to say what no one else wants to, because as a journalist, that’s my job.”
...the fact that someone paid you to write this is almost insulting, ma’am. Also, according to your profile you're a "semi-amateur" journalist, which makes it even worse...
“It’s also my duty, as a proud American woman, who wants only the best for our nations future.”
No. No, it really isn’t.
“It’s high time we call out video games for what they really are – packaged weapons aimed at our children by the Gay community to turn our children into homosexuals.”
Oh, I have got to hear this…
“Let’s look at the timeline and facts.”
Just signal me when you want me to stop laughing.
“Video games, as well as homosexuality, have been around for a while.”
Okay, I’ll grant you that.
“Video games, as well as homosexuality, was an invention of the early 20th century, although video games, as well as homosexuality, only started to become popular and socially acceptable in the late 1970s.”
...how can someone use the English language to stuff that much wrong into one sentence?
“Do you see an coincidences yet?”
Only somewhere in the upper hundreds of thousands, but please, go on.
“Let me continue. The computer, where a large majority of video games are played on in our modern age, was invented by a homosexual named Alan Turing.”
Yes, and it is in fact, the very same device that you’ve used to type this up and post it. Shocking!
“While slightly off-topic from the subject of video games, allow me also take this time to add in, a large majority of serial killers were also homosexuals.”
No, no, I’d call that a little more than slightly off-topic.
“Now, let’s take a look at the genres of video games that are gaining popularity over the recent years.”
Oh, goodie, let me get my coat, then…
“Sports games such as Football and Soccer. Do you really expect me to believe that these games are geared towards teaching our children how to play sports better, how to be healthy competitors, and encouraging them to stay fit? There’s nothing more homosexual than watching a bunch of men in tights running around wrestling with each other for some balls. It’s even worse that these children are forced to play the game with a viewing perspective of their character’s buttocks the whole time. I find it incredibly hard to believe that the developers of these games did not know what they were doing when they made their characters overly muscular while wearing tight little shorts like seen in the attached photos. Not only does it encourage homosexuality, but it also encourages cross-dressing.”
Wow, this has all the maturity of a frat house on hazing night. And that’s coming from me. For God’s sake, nobody show this woman The Rocky Horror Picture Show, she might have a heart attack.
“Role Playing or Fantasy games. This genre is especially dangerous to young, impressionable minds out there. Not only are all the male characters in these games extremely feminine and heavily into cross dressing, but many of them are so girly that it’s hard to even tell what gender the character even is. This is cause for great concern, as it instills in our children a sense of gender confusion, or gender neutrality, and sends the message to little boys that it’s okay to be gay or at least be really effeminate. Take special care when allowing your children to play these types of games. Avoid any that are “anime styled” or made in Japan, or any games that have an overabundance of magic themed characters, as they often showcase male characters with long, flowing hair and wearing dresses.”
And that is my bread and butter you’re muddying up, ma’am. Mielikki-forbid people should have a nice, relaxing outlet to cope with the stresses of day to day life, or even just a pastime that isn’t remotely destructive to any other form of life. Not to mention, Ms. Bull, your definition of “role playing games” seems to be formed from having watched about five minutes’ worth of a Square Enix game. While your statements about the aesthetics of those games is not entirely baseless (someone please try to tell me that Tidus doesn’t look like a woman), your transitions into the effect from the cause are at best head scratching and at worst uproariously hilarious.
Also, they’re called robes, lady. Get a grip.
“Massive Multiplayer Online games, or “MMOs.” This genre is fairly new but gaining popularity at an alarming rate, as the internet becomes more of a household necessity as the years go by. Like the Role Playing or Fantasy games listed above, these games are riddled with effeminate, cross dressing male characters for children to play.”
What MMOs have you been playing? Not to deny that ones of that nature exist (I’m certain they do, again at least aesthetically), but if you look at World of Warcraft, you can see from the advertising alone (which is all, I assume, that you bothered to look at) that this is complete nonsense.
“The only major difference in this specific genre is instead of playing these games by yourself in shame, you are playing “online” with a massive amount of other players plopped into your game as well that you can interact with on various levels.”
Oh, yes! Because if there’s anything worse than having a healthy outlet that doesn't harm another living soul, it’s having a healthy outlet that doesn't harm another living soul...with other people!
How dare you, gamers?!
“This may seem harmless, and good for their social skills, but it is actually quite dangerous.”
The fiends!
“Most people who gravitate towards these games are sexual predators, many of them being pedophiles specifically. These dirty men will make girly looking characters and attempt to engage in lewd activities with whomever they can, something that has come to be known in the online community as “cyber sexing.””
Yes, because online communities like World of Warcraft don’t attempt to have some form of moderation in these sorts of things. Also, again, you’re really overblowing it. Not to say that that isn’t a problem, but it’s not nearly as widespread as you’re making it out to be.
“They don’t care who they do it with, or what age the person behind their avatar is. Infact, studies have come to show that these predators find more sexual satisfaction when the person they are cyber sexing is under the age of 16.”
Really? What studies? Going to bother and try and cite a few sources to back yourself up there? No, okay, nevermind….how does this fit into the homosexual agenda again?
“Be careful, parents, when your child asks that you buy them a game in this genre. This is the most dangerous of the three genres listed here. Your child is pretty much guaranteed to walk away from it as a homosexual, if he’s not already, since to want to play these types of games, you must have some homosexual tendencies to begin with.”
Wow. Utterly amazing. Again, someone paid for you to write this?
“Of course this is only touching the tip of the ice burg, on the issue and on all the different genres of video games out there that are a subliminal danger to your children.”
Oh, well, of course. It’s plain as day and night, obviously.
“My advice to you is, keep your children away from video games at all cost.”
From the looks of the comments on MWD, nobody will be following it. But, hey, at least you tried.
“It is a clear tool for the Homosexual agenda, in which to recruit new members to their “team.””
Oh, yes. Clearly...wait, what was your argument again? Something to do with sports?
“They think they’re clever and not being noticed, going after the young and impressionable, before they’ve really had a chance to realize what sexuality is, and to brainwash them into believing that they’re gay and it’s okay.”
What kind of drugs are you on? Who is your dealer and how much does he charge? Really, I need to know the answers to these questions.
“ It’s time to take a stand, parents. It’s time to tell the Gay Agenda, NO! You cannot have my child.”
Well, Ms. Bull I cannot say that I agree. In fact, I can hardly say that I know anyone with a single working brain cell that would be happy to go along with this very hate-filled, completely baseless, and really rather nonsensical ramblings. Your theories are the worst kind of popular tripe, your methods are sloppy, and your conclusions are highly questionable! You are a poor journalist, Ms. Bull.
Of course, to be fair, this is really no different than the way Dungeons & Dragons players were treated back in the late Seventies and early Eighties. It’s fear mongering about which something the public at large isn’t completely accepting of...except that it is. Video games are now as commonplace as telephones or home computers, nobody really bats an eye at them anymore. It’s almost as though this article was written by some time traveler from those past decades, looking at the future with great fear and suspicion.
The fact is, we don’t live in a world like that anymore. Information on such things is easier to get than ever now, thanks to the internet. Everyone from your common Joe out there to a journalist that the absolute height of class. So there’s no excuse for anyone to not get themselves informed, or for Ms. Bull to not have done any actual research and perhaps learn something about what she’s trying to spew hate-filled bile at.
I’m not going to go into the morality of homosexuality. Personally, no, I don’t have a problem with people with a homosexual preference. I also don’t have problems with people with a heterosexual preference. If you and your partner are two consenting adults, what you do behind closed doors if your business. My problem, is once again how someone from the media is making completely unfounded and nonsensical claims against both it and video gaming, preying on the ignorant and uneducated. Because we must always scapegoat what we do not understand, you see.
Rather than allowing people to live in ignorance, I bring up an alternative for parents and their children. Don’t completely cut video games out of your children’s lives. Instead, learn the ESRB ratings system for games, or its equivalent in your region (be it PEGI or several others, again, Google is your friend) and make sure that they understand it. More to the point, make sure that YOU understand it. Talk to them about it. If you don’t want your child playing a game that showcases heavy violence, nudity and sex, and alcohol, then you have a responsibility not to buy them Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and then wonder why on Earth those things are in that game. On the other side of that coin, don’t live in fear that Barbie Horse Adventures will turn your sweet angel into a member of a Satanic coven.
The fact is that video games (as well as movies and television) are often used as a scapegoat by the media in the case of all sorts of tragedies (in particular shootings), regardless of how flimsy or loose the connections to such an event are. Even so much as finding a Nintendo DS chalk full of Mario games in the home of some accused murderer is a reason for every media outlet in America to just light up their torches and gather their pitchforks. It’s incredibly stupid, particularly when it’s been proven several times in studies that there’s almost no link between video games and violent crime.
And there’s certainly no “homosexual conspiracy” in gaming, that’s just incredibly insane. And even if it weren’t, even if there were some believability to anything that has been written in the article, cite some sources! All that Ms. Bull is managing to do, all she seems to have accomplished, is alienating everyone. These are not the proud, brave words of a woman who is standing up for what she believes in, they’re insane ramblings that most asylum patients wouldn’t see fit to scribble on the walls of their cells.
And I’m going to ask you, people, don’t feed the troll. Don’t listen to this woman’s insane babbling. Readers of MWD apparently aren’t, some even certain that it must be satire. And it very well could be. However, given the words of Ms. Bull in a few of the other articles she’s written, I really can’t say that I agree. Please, everyone, just let this crazy woman go on babbling. Let her appeal to whatever niche she has that are in need of as much psychiatric help as she, or simply stop listening so she has no one to troll. Get informed. Learn rather than just go off the words of some crazy person on the internet.
Really, I hear they’ll let anyone post there...
